Spend three days exploring some of Vancouver Island's most spectacular alpine terrain, based out of Cumberland — a small village with great food, easy ocean and lake access, and some of the best hiking on the Island right at its doorstep.
No long travel days, no moving between hotels. Just three full days in the mountains, with guides who know this terrain well.
The Itinerary
Day 1 — Strathcona Provincial Park
A full day in the alpine of BC's oldest and one of its most beautiful parks. We'll pick our route based on conditions, targeting quieter ridgelines and less-travelled terrain with big mountain views. This is classic Vancouver Island alpine — rugged, accessible, and rarely crowded if you know where to go.

Day 2 — Heli Hike
The centrepiece of the trip. A helicopter puts us into terrain that would otherwise require days of approach — high-elevation ridges, remote alpine lakes, and landscapes most people never see. We'll spend the day exploring before flying back out in the afternoon.

Day 3 — A Different Corner of Cumberland
A third full day of guided hiking, in a different area to round out the trip and give you a broader sense of what this part of Vancouver Island has to offer.

Based in Cumberland
Our office is here, which means this is terrain we guide year-round. Cumberland sits between the Beaufort Range and the Strait of Georgia — close to Strathcona Park, close to the coast, and close to some genuinely excellent coffee. It's a good place to be.
